The End!!

giphy (1)

Ok let’s face it….I took a nap and missed my alarm. BUT I am proud of how much reading I DID accomplish that I’m totally ok with this.

Tell me if you finished the whole 24 hours or just finished some personal goals.

Thanks for participating!!!

My Eyes Are Blurry

Guys. I just finished a 613 page book. Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. Seriously the best conclusion for the trilogy I could have asked for. I’ll post a review under a different page, but this was such an accomplishment for me! I’m so glad I knocked another book off my to read list! Not that I will ever be able to completely be done with it in my lifetime, but hey, it’s a start!

This is hour 8, and it was a Sprint, so I finished about 400 pages in 45 minutes and WOW if that’s not the craziest thing! I was so excited I had to make a post because now my eyes are hurting. And I’m wearing glasses. This is crazy.

So what does your progress look like today?

What?? Hour 6 already?!?

Where did the time go?! Did you take a breather? Get some water? Did you do any of the mini challenges on http://www.24hourreadathon.com/? It’s been a fun day for me, but it’s coming to a close for a few since I have to go play mom for a bit and get the kid from the science thing I sent him to! He’ll be sure to tell me all about the fun he had, so I can’t wait!

Let me know in the comments how you’re doing on this readathon day!

Hour 3…and GO!

snacks

So the task for this is FOOD!!! What kind of food are you eating today? What kind of snack and drinks did you prepare?

I myself am having my coffee (FINALLY!!) and had some breakfast, fast food style!

Starting this hour by reading ME AND EARL AND THE DYING GIRL so I can get it all finished up!

coffee and readin

Good Morning!

It’s Readathon Day! And I’ve already not been reading for a half an hour! Yay life with kids!!! But it’s ok. I’ll do some audiobook in the car taking my son to his science weekend then get started right away with my nieces whose first Read is today! Can’t wait!

I will go ahead and do the pre-challenge here:

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
Michigan, USA
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
Obsidio, for sure!
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
Coffee!! It’s so early right now!
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I’m a single momma who has done (or attempted to do) Readathon for the past 3 years, including being a co-host for hours on the Dewey group on Goodreads.
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?

Looking forward to ACTUALLY getting some books done and my yearly reading goal caught up!

Good luck everybody!

Again? Really?

So I have this problem. Every Dewey Readathon (seriously, both in October and April) I get all excited…only to have a bajillion plans erupt on that day. Usually, it’s my niece or nephew’s bday party (this year I got lucky-it was this past weekend). So imagine my surprise when this year not only do I not have plans, but I also get to have a good chunk of time alone since the small child I parent is going to a STEAM Geekend! *gasp*

Only to turn around and offer to help my bestie clean and move this weekend.

On a happier note:

I’ve been doing a book club with my cousin and some friends and we’ve just picked our new book for the month: The Alice Network. The Alice Network

I’m pretty excited for this! If you’d like, read with us and when we do our discussion, I’ll post the questions and topics we talk about and in the comments, we can discuss!

I will also be picking my Dewey reads later this week, and I’ll post those here as well!

Happy Reading!

Oh, Hello!

Today begins Lupe’s Book Nook. I know, I know. Not very imaginative but hey, it gets the point across and if you are here, then Book Reviews and Cat Gifs MUST be what you are searching for!

IMG_5846.jpg

For starters, I’m Lupe (obviously, hehe!) and I’m starting this book blog as a place to put all my book reviews other than Goodreads, which is a wonderful source, but can be a bit much for people looking for solely reviews and not all of my shelves and groups. Which, by the way, you can find me there at www.goodreads.com/lupedominguez. I’m also on NetGalley, which will be where I get a majority of my books and ARCs from.

For now, I will try to keep this updated at least once a week. I can get busy (single momma with a busy 9 year old) but I will attempt due diligence and not keep my fellow readers waiting when I get a new ARC or library book to review!

See you soon!

Getting Dewey Ready

Let’s Get Started

So this last week, I finally went ahead and signed up for Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon (http://www.24hourreadathon.com for all you wanting to also sign up) with hopes that this year will be THE YEAR in which I FINALLY accomplish this task. That being said, I also have a lot of library books that need to be read before I get on the whole “Picking books for the Readathon” thing. Have YOU ever done a Readathon? If so, what are your favorite rituals and go-to books?
